Not to be confused with Kamen Rider V3.
V3 is a character from Astro Boy (2003) and is a recurring antagonist in Knights of the Multiverse Season 1. He's the last and strongest of the three Droids in the V-Series created by L.O.S.R.'s leader Aloyse von Roddenstein, made for the sole purpose of destroy their enemies.
Personality[]
V3 is a Droid with a very thug-like mentality to him, as he enjoys showing off his power and using it to hurt both humans & Droids alike, guilty or innocent. Like his brothers, he also enjoys picking on Atros and practically every other "lesser" Droid for their failures. Unlike his brothers thought, V3 commanded a much larger presence thanks to his superior weapons and strength compared to them, to the point that he even acted as sort of a gang leader towards his brothers (a stark contrast to how many of L.O.S.R.'s other Droid trios where the last Droid was treated as simply the "younger sibling"). He's also willing to whatever resources he can find to further his goals, which often includes using any number of other robots - both of the Droid and Super Robot caliber - to do it. After his brothers were destroyed though, he became much more violent and vengeful, now fighting against the Knights - Atros in particular - to avenge them... though also mostly just for the satisfaction of finally destroying the "runts" once and for all.
History[]
Season 1[]
Weapons[]
- Super Strength
- Thrusters
V3 has two set of thrusters attached to his body; one pair is built into both his feet while another pair shaped like cones emerge from the sides of his shoulders.
- Rocket Claw
V3 is able to fire his claws on a thick wire to either punch far away enemies or grab them. When he does grab them, he releases a small electric charge to temporarily disable them. He can also wrap the enemy in both wires and pull them back towards him for a final blow.
- Denzi Punch
- V3 electrifies his claw and fires it at his opponent to strike them from a long distance, similarly to a rocket punch.
- Photon Beam
V3 has a Photon Beam cannon attached to the top of his head. It can either fire a single beam or a scattershot-like beam that covers a wide area of attack.
Last-Minute Upgrades[]
In his last bid to destroy Atros, V3 recieved a couple of upgrades.
- Electric Wire Trap
V3 releases a small electric disperse from his arm wires once his target is entraped in both of them, much the same way his normal claws would.
- Beam Sabers
In the event that his wires are cut off, V3 activates a pair of large blue beam sabers in place of his claws, both being as strong as Atros's.
- Photon Scattershot
An upgrade of V3's Photon Beam that fires in multiple directions that fire much stronger beams, covering a much wider area of attack.
Relationships[]
Roddenstein[]
The best way to describe V3 and his creator's relationship is mutually distant, V3 doesn't much care for Rodney's "boring" technobabble talks and prefers to move around at his own pace, and Rodney lets them do whatever they wish as long as they make sure they perform whatever task they're actually assigned to. Though V3 does still refer to him as "Pops" whenever they talk, so there's at least some mutual respect for each other.
V1 & V2[]
While V3 does somewhat care about his older brothers, he sees himself as superior to them due to his superior strength & weapons, often treating his "prototypes" as low-level grunts to boss around and run them through the ringer whenever they screw up a mission or get in his way.
Atros[]
V3 and Atros have a very hostile rivalry, with the two constantly at each other's throats over who has the superior powers and mocking each other whenever they fail another mission.

Notes[]
While the majority of recurring Renegade Droid "antagonists" are all meant to turn good and join the Knights, V3 and his brothers are meant to be the more stereotypical recurring "mooks" seen in Sentai & Kamen Rider shows that only get worst with every subsequent appearance as they get more and more devoted to doing nothing more than destroy the heroes.
V3 is actually a robot that features as a small part of the Tezuka Star System, as he originated from Tezuka's Big X series. In his appearance in the '03 series, he was actually given the name "Guff" (or "Gaff" in the English dub), but he was given his original "name" in this series. This is mostly for the sake of his brothers, as they were never given names in the AB episode; so, with Guff taking on his original "name", they follow suit with the two prior numbers. This also works to show off the mindset of some of the L.O.S.R. staff works, showing that some Renegade scientists care so little about their robotic creations that they can't even be bothered to give them proper names.
Ironically, V3's depiction is very different from his appearance in the 2003 anime, as he and his brothers were actually made quite sympathetic characters, having to hunt and destroy other robots simply because they believed that was the only point to their existence until Astro managed to convince him otherwise. That is very much not the case here, as while he and his brothers do fight against the Knights several times, V3's main purpose in the story is to be the "jock bully" for Atros and her friends when they still worked under the organization, with them being made by the organization's leader himself giving him a major superiority complex like most jock characters (though like most of these characters, this attitude often results in him getting a good dose of humiliation).
