This episode acts as an adaptation of sorts from Lorelai's spotlight episodes in the original 70's Mazinger Z series (episode 61) and Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact! (episodes 13 to 15).
Dr. Franken was chosen as the scientist-of-the-week for this episode due to his and Schtroheim's similarities to Frankenstein's monster. Mechander Robo was picked as the robot-of-the-week because... why not?
