Shadow Knight is a character from Android Kikaider: The Animation and is a minor antagonist in Knights of the Multiverse Season 1. He's a cycloptic Droid modeled to look like a medieval knight that was created by Dr. Hakai to destroy the enemies of the L.O.S.R. organization. He and his brother Zadam were assigned to destroy Drum after she joined the Crystal Knights.
Personality[]
As (somewhat) befitting of a Knight, Shadow Knight is fiercely loyal to his creator, following their orders without question and crushing any obstacle that gets in his way of them. However, the chivalry of a knight he doesn't quite have programmed right. Initially at least, he was rather respectful to Usagi's group during their fight, even offering them to stand aside and be spared since Drum was their only target. But when he gets enraged enough, he'll ruthlessly attack any enemies that stand before him without a hint of mercy, even the "kids" of the Knights like Roscarl and Mohm.
History[]
Season 1[]
Abilities & Equipment[]
- Eye/Head Unit
Shadow Knight is able to disconnect his eye from its body, mainly so he can spy on enemies thanks to the rocket booster housed inside. In addition to that, even if the eye should be destroyed, Shadow Knight can still move, thanks mainly to his electronic brain being housed in his torso.
- Self-Destruct
- As a last-ditch plan, Shadow Knight has an explosive device built into his chest. He will grab his intended target in a choke-hold (eye detached, of course) and detonate, taking his enemy out with him.
- Eye Beam
Shadow Knight is able to fire a destructive Photon Beam from its eye.
- Sword
Going along with his knightly appearance, Shadow Knight's main weapon is a sword, kept in a hilt on the side of his body.
- Dead Impulse
- Shadow Knight fires a destructive beam of Photon energy from the tip of his sword.
Relationships[]
Dr. Hakai[]
As befitting a knight-like Droid, Shadow Knight is incredibly faithful & loyal to Dr. Hakai.
Zadam[]
While he doesn't much care for his brutish behavior, Shadow Knight still cares for his brother's safety.
Drum[]
Emily[]
Roscarl[]
Initially, Shadow Knight simply just shoved Roscarl to the side when he began his attack on the Knights, as he preferred to not raise his sword to children.

Notes[]
Shadow Knight is actually a rare example of a one-shot enemy character in KotM that was a major character in his home series that whose role is very much downplayed in this series. In the original Kikaider story, he served as the right-hand man to that series' main villain, as opposed to here where he's simply treated as another villain of the week.
SK's personality in most Kikaider material has him act more like just a normal Number 2 guy mook, just a "generically" evil jerk that did whatever his boss said. But while there are still some traces of that here, the series does try to make him a little more interesting for the episode he appears in; like certain other characters brought into this series, he's portrayed with more knight-like tendencies to make him a little more distinct.
