The Robot Vikings are characters from Astro Boy (1980) and are a group featured in Knights of the Multiverse Season 1. They are a team of 20 to 30 robot football players that were abducted by the L.O.S.R. organization and modified to act as soldiers for them in their bid for global conquest.
In the series proper, they would be used by V3 and his brothers in a plan to destroy Sailor Moon and her inner circle of friends while another group destroyed the rest of the Crystal Knights.
Personalities[]
The Robot Vikings maintain very jock-like mindsets that they might have had in their original lives, just "enhanced" by their remodeling to be a lot more aggressive. The red Viking unit, which the others refer to as "Captain", acts as the leader of the group, but maintains the others' general aggressive behavior otherwise. However, they do show a great sense of loyalty to one another, as by the end of their fight with the Knights, the Captain wanted to personally destroy them for destroying his brothers.
History[]
Season 1[]
Armaments[]
- Roller Feet
Each Robot Viking has about nine metal balls built into the bottom of their feet that allow them to roll across any surface at great speeds, almost making them seem like they're skating. They make great use of this for tackles and other hard-hitting sport-like "plays".
- Horns (Team Captain)
The twin horns on the Robot VIkings' Captain's head are sharp enough to at least punch through rock walls. These were originally just for decoration during their "game days", but have been augmented to make them quite the dangerous weapons, especially in the team's Centipede combination.
- Super Strength
- Explosive Ball
Kept in storage units in their stomachs, each of the Robot Vikings possess a thick metal ball that they use as projectile weapons. They're already strong enough to knock even one of the superpowered Droids in the Knights off their feet, but they also hold explosive charges that release a powerful explosion when they're destroyed.
- Centipede Combination
With the Captain acting as the head, thirteen of the Robot Vikings are able to fold in their arms & legs and pile on top of each other and form a centipede-like robot, complete with new legs popping underneath. It's surprisingly fast and nimble, as the form's new legs have jet boosters on the back of them that allow it to scuttle across the ground at great speeds and make it able to leap a great distance into the air & even "bounce" back off of the ground.

Notes[]
Original Voice Actor(s):
- Team Captain: Norio Wakamoto (Japanese) & Jay Rath (English)
- Grunts: Kōshirō Tanaka (Japanese) & Richard Ganoung (English)
The Robot Vikings' inclusion in this series is mainly to act as a generic enemy force that Usagi's personal "posse" of Knights have some trouble with but still destroy by the end of the episode, mostly just as a way to show how strong they gotten at this point in the season both as individuals and as a team. Plus, in a way, it sort of acts as foreshadowing to the Shadow Bots and how they'll be fighting more grunts that fight more human-like than robot-like with the Soldier and Officer robots as the season progresses.
KotM's depiction of the Robot Vikings is arguably toned down from their original counterpart, as in the original 1980 Astro Boy anime, they acted as just a gang of vandals that ran wild destroying everything in their path. Here though, they're only set loose on the Knights.
The group's centipede form was actually pretty slow, with the boosters on the back of the feet being a KotM-exclusive addition given to add some more tension to the fight.
