Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a series created by Naoko Takeuchi. KotM follows the plot points of the two anime adaptations, the 90's anime and Sailor Moon Crystal.

Differences from Source Material

The Knights series takes inspiration from both the original 1992 series and Sailor Moon Crystal seasons two and three. As such, elements from both shows are recontextualized for Knights.

• To get the obvious one out of the way, Chibiusa goes by Usagi, and instead of Sailor Chibi Moon, her Sailor Guardian form is called Neo Sailor Moon.
• Many of Usagi's relationships are based off of her original counterpart's friendships from the original Sailor Moon anime. In addition to that, some of her other friendships are based off of the original Sailor Guardians' elemental powers.
  • Chibiusa/Chibi Moon Relationships:
    • Sayaka Yumi: Ikuko Tsukino (secondary mother figure)
    • Honey Kisaragi: Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon (goofy older-sister figure)
    • Kamille Bidan: Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask (older brother/father-like figure that she often goes to for advice)
    • Mohm: Momoko Momohara (Usagi's best friend that's around her age)
    • Ruri Saotome: Kyuusuke Sarashina (Usagi's other closest friend that often gives her a hard time. However, while Kyusuke mostly did it through general teasing, Ruri does it through her brutal honesty and not knowing how to act around other people)
    • Candace Flynn: Rei Hino/Sailor Mars (fiery hot-head)
    • Amity Blight: Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury (shy brainiac that's very passionate about their academic field)
    • Catra: Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter (tough friend who tells it like it is and is the strongest person Usagi knows)
    • Artemis: Minako Aino/Sailor Venus (good-hearted friend that often over-romantizes everything and has explosive outbursts)
    • Sasha: Haruka Tenou/Sailor Uranus (hot shot who thinks they're better than everyone, though slowly warms up to the others' attitudes (helped by how both also wield swords))
    • Pacifica Northwest: Michiru Kaiou/Sailor Neptune (though often coming off as a snob and sometimes too competitve, is really a kind and passionate individual)
    • Asuka Langley Soryu: Setsuna Meiou/Sailor Pluto (friend who's closed herself off to human interaction)
    • Atros: Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn (girl about Usagi's age with destructive powers that she helps open up and become an all-around better person. Even more played with since Atros was originally created specifically to kill her.)

    • Tom Lucitor: Sailor Mars(Fire powers)
    • Lapis Lazuli: Sailor Mercury (Water Powers)
    • Sunset Shimmer: Sailor Venus (Light/Energy Based Powers)
    • Starscream: Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn (Not so much for their powers, but more as their roles as people sent to destroy but ended up becoming close friends and denying their chosen fates.)

• In the original story (at least in Crystal), Chibiusa stole one of Pluto's time keys to go to the past to try and save Crystal Tokyo with that era's Silver Millennium Crystal. In Knights, Usagi is instead thrown into the same forest that the rest of the characters in the first episode.
