Noriko Takaya is a character from Aim for the Top: Gunbuster, and is a major character in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season 2. She pilots the VF-1J Nausicaa (later upgraded into the Strike Nausicaa) and the powerful Shin Getter Robo, along with her classmate Kazumi Amano.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Noriko is usually calm, sweet, mild-tempered, and often is incredibly clumsily. Her heart was always in the right place, it just that the negative emotions that've built up inside after her father's tragic death sometimes hinders her progress. However, after the many trials she's endured as a member of The Knights and plenty of encouragement from her coach, she became as hot-blooded as they come, tearing through opponents in a blazing fury and always standing up to any foe. Though she still has her insecurities of wanting to prove herself to the mech pilots that came before her, and she'll still slip up, she's still become quite the leader: "usually" always knows what to do, self-confident, and incredibly determined in achieving her goals, and those of her newfound family.

As her piloting and fighting techniques continue to advance, she grows more confident in her abilities and more independent, even starting to get pretty cocky. However, she still has moments where she relapses into feeling powerless when she loses a fight, least of all ones that call her weak and pathetic, but she's still more willing than ever to pick herself back up, train, and come back stronger than ever, not just for her "big sister" or her team, but for herself.

Notes[edit | edit source]

To help the parallel to Ruri's role in KotM being inspired by Go from Getter Robo Armageddon a bit better, Noriko and Kazumi's role in the series is inspired by Go's teammates Kei and Gai, with Noriko taking Gai's role as the gentle, caring one that doesn't like fighting but will go ballistic when pushed too far.
