Michiru Saotome is a character from Getter Robo (1974) and is a main characer in The Knights of the Multiverse. A founding member of The Knights, she pilots Getter Poseidon alongside her long-time friend Ryoma Nagare and significant other Hayato Jin. She serves as the team's counselor*, meaning that she provide individual guidance and advice to teammates, as well as periodic team performance evaluations, and gives advice to her comrades when they feel stuck in a rut.

Personality

Michiru is genuinely friendly and polite to anyone she meets, but can be rough with family and friends when she has to be. However, she's also possesses a strong will and is as capable of fighting just as much as her fellow Getter pilots, willing to take any risk to protect her colleagues.

History

Pre-Series

Michiru worked closely with her father on the Getter Project, and was originally set to act as an advance scout with her command machine. However, after the Dinosaur Empire rose up and attacked (as well as her brother Tatsuhito while piloting the Getter Robo prototype), she would frequently fight alongside her friends Ryoma, Hayato and Musashi to battle them, even sometimes taking over a Getter Machine whenever one of the pilots was unable to. After defeating the Hyakki Empire, she and the other Getter pilots would fight alongside the Mazinger team against other giant robots and monsters. During this time, Michiru also drew up some ideas for a new Getter Robo model before shelving it, considering they were now in a time of relative peace. As her father grew more closed-off to the outside world and focused on more... questionable uses of Getter Rays, she became the main representative for the Saotome Labs, joining in a partnership with Sayaka Yumi at the Photon Labs to work new scientific developments.

Mini-Series

On the last day of the Photon/Getter project (the construction of Getter Robo Mk. II), Michiru, Ryoma and Hayato took Getter Robo G out on patrol. Suddenly, they flew through a mysterious red portal, appearing next over top of a large forest.

Season 2

Shin Getter Robo

Considering their options, Michiru felt it was finally time to reveal her designs for Shin Getter. Immediately impressed by the powers it had, the rest of the Knights believed that it might be their last chance to hold off LOGOS's forces.

Ruri Saotome

Being partially created from her cells, Ruri and Michiru formed an immediate sibling bond.

Sayaka Yumi

With both taking over from their fathers as heads of their respective institutes, Michiru and Sayaka entered into a partnership where the two work on joint projects that focus on new defenses for EDC forces and other scientific breakthroughs. As business partners, The two had already formed a friendship during the Imperial Wars, and as business partners, they've formed an even tighter bond.
