God Sigma is the titular robot of Space Emperor God Sigma and is a Super Robot featured in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season 1. It's a Super Robot created by the evil organization L.O.S.R. that was meant to be used as another one of their many weapons to aid in their conquest of the world. However, it was soon captured by the Crystal Knights and turned over to Asuka Langley Soryu, who would use it as her main Mecha for the majority for the first and second seasons.

History[]

Animated Shorts[]

Short #4[]

As Asuka is represented by her original "mech" - Eva Unit-02 - in the shorts, God Sigma was only presented among the rest of L.O.S.R.'s robots, only appearing in the fourth short, where it aids in their attack a city. When the Knights arrive to fight them off, God Sigma gets into a short duel with Daimos. After trading several blows, Sigma fires its Sigma Flare, paralyzing it. As Sigma raises its power sword into the air for the final blow, Nyoka flies in between the two and blasts Sigma's fins with her Photon Cannons. Daimos regains its composure and uses its Soryu-Ken to cut Sigma in half.

Abilities & Equipment[]

God Sigma has a Mini Jet Scrander held in its cockpit in case its pilot needs to make a quick escape should the meh be too heavily damaged.

  • Jet Thrusters

God Sigma is able to fly via a set of turbo jet thrusters built into its legs.

  • Shield

The God Sigma has a blue shield that it holds on to the back of the Big Wing.

  • Finger Needle

Sigma fires bullet-like Photon Beams from its fingertips.

  • Photon Beams

Sigma can fire Photon beams from the antennae on its shoulders.

  • Rocket Punch

Sigma is able to launch its forearms like rockets. In the case that one fist doesn't return or is destroyed, both arms have a set of smaller hands that emerge in place so it can still fight.

  • God String

Sigma can create a long electric whip from the gem on its chest, which it can then lash at enemies.

  • Musouken (trans. Warrior Blade)

Sigma's backfins combine, with the hilt of its sword - the Musouken - emerging from the tip of the fins, which the robot then pulls it out to use as its main melee weapon. Sigma is able to pull it out of either fin in whichever way the fins combine.

  • Chodenji Blade
God Sigma holds its Musouken in front of the yellow gem on its chest and fires a blast of Electromagentic waves to energize the blade. This is primarily to enhance finishing attacks or to fight against Beam Sabers.
  • Sigma Flash

Panels open at the top of each of God Sigma's backfins, revealing generators that fire a beam that paralyzes Sigma's enemy upon contact so the Mecha can safely execute a finishing move on it.

God Sigma Big Wing

God Sigma's Big Wing

  • Big Wing

A large jet-like structure that forms God Sigma's main chest plate and back fins. It is detachable and capable of functioning independently thanks to a limited A.I. system, though it can be remotely controlled by the pilot. Its boosters also provide the main Mecha with an extra boost in speed while flying.

  • Wing Crash
God Sigma's other finishing move: the Big Wing separates from Sigma and, grabbing onto it, it charges at its opponent, sort of like a pseudo-Shine Spark.

Combo Attacks[]

  • Impulse Attack

Combo attack w/ Might Kaiser: Might Kaiser unleashes a Kaiser Hurricane to blow the enemy away before God Sigma freezes them in place with a Sigma Flash. Then, Kaiser charges through the enemy as Sigma comes down with a downward slash from its Musouken.

Notes[]

KotM's version of God Sigma is quite different from its original counterpart. For one, it was originally made to be a combining robot, made up of the robots Kaimeiou, Rikushinou & Kuuraiou, with Kaimeiou & Rikushinou forming Sigma's legs. However, since this version of Sigma only has one pilot (which isn't actually too outlandish a concept, as in the final episode of the original series, it and the enemy's final giant robot destroyed each other, but Sigma was repaired after the war and rebuilt to be a single-pilot machine), only Kuuraiou is used. The only additional component it maintains is the Big Wing, with it acting more like Gundam SEED's Justice & ∞ Justice Gundams' Fatums or Great Mazinger's Great Booster. It also loses some of its more mundane weapons from its home series, most notably its "God Saucer" and "God Tomahawk", which were... literally just a saucer disc and tomahawk axe.

  • There is however a slight nod to Sigma's combining routes with its KotM-original Rocket Punch attack, with the arms sprouting smaller hands should the main arm be separated for a long period of time. This also helps allow Sigma to keep fight should one or both of its fists be destroyed.
  • Like certain other characters & mechs in this series, there actually are a couple of instances in Season 2 where Asuka would have Sigma pick up and toss Zeon Heat Hawks a couple of times as a slight nod to the God Tomahawk.

The reason for God Sigma maintaining its need to be piloted manually unlike most of L.O.S.R.'s other Super Robots in the series, and having it be used by the Knights, is really to give Asuka her own unique Mecha on the team, though it was important that it bare some similarities to her original mech, the Eva Unit-02, such as its red color scheme and use of bladed weapons.

God Sigma and Baldios are meant to fill the roles on the team of the “secondary” robots of a good number of Mecha shows, namely the majority of the Brave series (Guardion & Thunder Baron in Fighbird, Sky/Pegasus Saber & Land Bison in Da Garn, Try/Battle Bomber & Guard Diver in Might Gaine) or a more obvious (though unintentional) example like the red, more athletic Guncannon & large blue shoulder-cannon-armed Guntank in the original Mobile Suit Gundam, or even - to tie it back to the orignal Zeta Gundam anime - "Quattro's" wingmen Apolly and Roberto - to act as the Zeta’s main aids/wingmen in battle.
