The Glomar is a ship from Super Dimensional Century Orguss that is featured in The Knights of the Multiverse, first introduced in Season 1. It was developed by the New Photon/Saotome Labs staff for the Crystal Knights to use as their personal transport craft and act as their personal mobile home and headquarters.

History[]

Pre-Series[]

Season 1[]

Season 2[]

When the Knights began their war to protect the Multiverse against Axis Zeon, the group was quick to realize that the Glomar wasn't exactly ideal for full-scale, multiverse-spanning conflict, especially after it got especially banged up in their first few battles with the group. So, it was decided that the Glomar was to be retired, with all their supplies & personnel being transferred over to the repaired Iron Gear for the time being.

Season 3[]

Main Areas[]

Exterior[]

  • Hanger

The Glomar's underbelly contains a hanger bay of sorts. The center part is long enough to hold up to three average-sized mobile suits and has several storage ports specifically for smaller mechs.

  • Side Hangers

The Glomar has two human-sized hangers near the front of the ship. This is where the team's human & Droid members keep most of their weapons & equipment, and also where they depart the ship from whenever they enter battle.

Interior[]

  • Control Room
  • "The Den"

Arguably the most popular spot in the ship, "the Den" as everyone calls it, is positioned around the back part of the ship, with a large turnabout couch with a large TV hanging over a fireplace for the team to just settle down, catch up and share a meal.

  • Mess Hall

A large area made up of chairs and tables where the "guests" have their meals and share stories from their worlds.

  • Food Bar
  • Kitchen
  • Supply Room

This is the room dedicated to holding the Knights' various necessary supplies, such as several Photon Energy tanks, spare parts for Droids & Mecha, medical supplies for the "organic" members, and refrigerators & freezers for food stock.

  • Med/Repair Bay

An area that doubles as both a medical bay and repair bay for human and Droid members of the team, having both medical supplies and repair tools.

  • Bedrooms

Armaments[]

  • Flight System

The Glomar has a unique flight system that allows it to either hover just above the ground or ascend up high into the air.

  • Weapons

Although not built specifically to be a military vessel, the Glomar has various weapons installed for self-defense. It's armed with gun turrets and missiles all around the hull and four triple-barreled Photon Beam cannons stored in its front. There are also numerous weapon ports for the crew to use hand-held weapons to defend themselves.

Notes[]

Specs:

  • Length: 60 m/197 ft
  • Width: 37.5 m/123 ft
  • Height: 24 m/79 ft

The inclusion of the Glomar in KotM is, well, to serve the same purpose it did in the original Orguss anime: to act as a sort of mobile home for the lead cast. Plus, with the cast's main residence being mobile, it helps to sort of justify how the team is able to get to most places quickly (well, at least for the first season).
