Jun Hono is a character from Great Mazinger (1974) and is a major supporting character in The Knights of the Multiverse. She's the pilot of Govarian, the wife of Tetsuya Tsurugi and adoptive mother of Emily.

Personality[]

Jun acts quite tomboyish and aggressive most of the time, occasionally shouting off or hitting people that annoy her; but has shown some feminine qualities such as an interest in fashion. She has also shown compassion and caring feelings, especially towards Tetsuya and Emily, as well as being very mature and independent, realizing that she had to look after herself after everything she'd been through, including her troubled past as well as being sent on the sidelines by her guardian. However, Jun is still mildly conflicted by her past including the loss of her parents (of which she keeps a picture of them), the racial bigotry she suffered, and her feelings for Tetsuya, though with help from her loved ones, she's managed to overcome them.

History[]

Pre-Series[]

Jun was born to a black father and Japanese mother, and thus was ostracized for being biracial and was left in an orphanage after losing her parents. Eventually she met Tetsuya and they became good friends. Eventually, they were found by Kenzo Kabuto who adopted them both and trained them to defend themselves and pilot giant robots, with Jun taking command of the Venus A robot. After the two of them (along with Koji and Sayaka) defeated the Mycenae Empire, she and the rest of the Mazinger Team would continue to fight against other giant robots and monsters, even having frequent encounters with the Getter Team on several missions.

A few years later, Koji introduced the two to Emily, an android that could replicate Honey Kisaragi's Airborne Element Fixing Device that could summon a suit of armor at will and a sword that was as strong as either of Great Mazinger's Mazinger Blades (maybe even stronger). Though the two were hesitant about having her around at first, as time passed, the three grew close, with the two even adopting her as their own daughter, and even started homeschooling her.

Relationships[]

Tetsuya Tsurugi[]

Jun has been together with Tetsuya since childhood, and as the two neared adulthood, she began to show deeper romantic feelings for Tetsuya, with her often trying to comfort and get closer to him. Unfortunately, during those times, especially with the war going on, Tetsuya was more focused on fighting the Mycenae Empire and/or staying in Prof. Kabuto's favor than anything else, which often caused them to argue to the point where Jun would often call him out for being wrong or acting dumb. Nevertheless, she would always try to help Tetsuya in any sort of problem. And of course, as the two entered into adulthood, their bond has turned into love and marriage, which only strengthened the two's bond even more.

Emily[]

Like Tetsuya, Jun loves Emily deeply, regarding her as her adoptive daughter. Though at first, she had her doubts about her at first, thinking that they wouldn't have a need for a smaller, possibly weaker robot flying around and becoming a hindrance in the middle of battles, but she's proved herself time and time again. Of course, Jun warmed up to her a lot faster than Tetsuya did thanks to her kinder nature. She also imparted onto her a few "words of wisdom", like warning her about some of the prejudice she might face for being a robot, much like she was for being biracial during her youth.

Nyoka & Mohm[]

While she doesn't see them very often, it's clear that Jun cares a lot about her robotic nieces. She's also quite proud of Emily for how much she's helped Nyoka in her development.

Sayaka Yumi[]

Koji Kabuto[]

Notes[]

Like the other characters from the Mazinger Z series in KotM, Jun's character model is based off of his appearance Mazinkaiser OVA.
