Goryu is a robot from Brave Express Might Gaine and is a transformable Super Robot featured in Knights of the Multiverse Season 1. A sort of upgrade to the Hiryu, it was created by L.O.S.R. to destroy the Crystal Knights. It was operated by Senor Killbot's electronic brain, who also took the opportunity to destroy the already in-play Hiryu to prove itself.

History[]

Season 1[]

Armaments[]

  • Jet Mode
  • Missiles & Machine Guns

The Goryu has a pair of machine guns mounted on its jet mode's nosecone and several missiles that it can fire from its wings.

  • Drill Missile

Goryu's drill nosecone can fire like a missile.

  • Head Vulcans
  • Missiles

Goryu has various missiles mounted in its shoulders and clavicles.

  • Booster Knuckle

The Goryu's forearms can be propelled at the enemy with rockets. They are also wire-connected and can also spin at high speeds while being launched or still mounted in order to increase damage. It also has several machine guns mounted on.

  • Goryu Cannon

A high-output Photon-powered handheld beam rifle stored within the Goryu's right leg.

  • Drill Arm

The drill from Goryu's jet mode's nosecone attaches itself to one of its forearm.

  • Drill Missile
Goryu launches a Booster Knuckle with the Drill attached. This sometimes allows it to grapple enemies and pull them towards it.
  • Charge Attack

Meant ot be somewhat of a "spin" on the Zeta's Waverider Crash, Goryu transforms into jet mode and rockets forward, quickly transforms into jet mode and rams through its target.

Notes[]

In the original Might Gaine series, Goryu was the second Mecha piloted by the show's main rival character, Joe the Ace, in a bid to destroy the titular hero after Hiryu was destroyed; although funnily enough, Goryu's role in this series is based off of another Might Gaine mecha, the Mega Sonic 8823, which was a robot that actually was canonically based off of Hiryu's design (although Goryu is meant to be a much more serious threat to both parties than the 8823 was).

Like a majority of villain toys/machines in the Brave Series, Hiryuu's design was reused from a character from the Transformers franchise; in particular, the character Dai Atlas from Transformers Zone. Ironically, Atlas was chummy partners with Sonic Bomber in the special, whereas here... not so much.

The "Drill Arm" is a KotM-original move, given to it in a "for fun" scenario, though it also acts as unintentional foreshadowing for Might Kaiser's Drill Crusher.

Goryu translates to Roaring Dragon in english.
