The NZ-X1 Destroy Gundam is a robot from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny and is a transformable heavy assault mobile suit featured in Knights of the Multiverse Season 2. It was created by the Injustice Regime using data they had gathered from the Psyco Gundam while being operated by the Mobile Doll System, and as its name implies, it was built for only one purpose: to destroy. Nearly three times as large as an average MS, it can destroy an enemy mobile suit by simply stepping on it. If that wasn't bad enough, they actually had the bright idea to mass-produce it.

Several of them showed up under the command of Axis Zeon itself during their invasion of Earth Prime in the later part of the season to battle the planet's stronger Super Robots.

History[]

Animated Shorts[]

Short #5[]

Multiple Destroy Gundams are seen at the end of the short, with it appearing among the several other Gundams and other mobile suits created by Axis to do battle with the Crystal Knights, with many of them hovering behind the small Gundam army, with the Psyco Gundam in the middle of them, ready to destroy anything in their path.

Season 2[]

Weapons & Armaments[]

Mobile Armor Mode[]

  • 6-tube Multipurpose Missile Launcher

Four missile launchers (with two facing the front and the rear) are mounted on the top of the backpack, they are primarily used for mobile unit interception and pure offensive barrage.

  • Thermal Plasma Composite Cannon

A set of 20 beam cannons set in the circumference of the Destroy's backpack, they are capable of continuous fire for limited amounts of time, and can adjust its shooting angle by rotating its barrels while being fired. Usable in both MA and MS mode.

  • High-energy Beam Cannon

A pair of twin barrel beam cannons mounted on the Destroy's backpack, they are the suit's most destructive weaponry and also have the longest attack range. They are capable of destroying anything in their path.

Mobile Suit Mode[]

  • Detachable Arm Beam Cannon

"Inspired" by the Rocket Punches used by many Super Robots, the forearms of the Destroy Gundam can detach and serve as wireless remote controlled weaponry. They can be deployed in both MA and MS mode. The large section covering the hand contains a single beam cannon, while the hands each contain a five barrel beam gun. It is also deployed to engage fast moving targets since the Destroy's sheer size and weight result in poor mobility.

  • 5-barrel Split Beam Gun

Mounted in the hands of the detachable arm beam cannons, the beam guns' multiple barrels masquerade as the Destroy's fingers. The beam guns are used for multi-directional attacks.

  • Particle Beam Cannon

A high-powered beam cannon mounted on the mouth section of the Destroy's head. It can be used in conjunction with the chest-mounted Super Scylla cannons for serious destruction.

  • Multi-phase Particle Beam Cannon

Based off of the original Psyco Gundam's Mega Particle Cannons, three of these cannons are mounted on the chest of the Destroy and are usable only in MS form. They can deal serious damage against most targets, and can be fired in conjunction with the particle beam cannon for maximum effect. They're strong enough to hold back even Raideen's God Voice.

Notes[]

Dimensions:

  • Height = 56.30 meters (MS mode)

The parallels between the Destroy and the Psyco Gundam are made much more apparent in this incarnation of the suit, with it being firmly established that the Psyco was used as the suit's basis, essentially making it this continuity's Psyco Gundam Mk-II. There is even a reference to the Mk-II, with one of the characters calling it "a second Psyco Gundam".

Like a lot of the other Mobile Suits and Mobile Armors in KotM that use the Mobile Doll System, the Destroy's use of it is based off of its appearance in Super Robot Wars Z 2.2, where it was one of several non Gundam Wing Mobile Suits that used the system, alongside other units like the Euclid and Byarlant. However, even in the original SEED Destiny, the Destroy was already a mass-produced unit.

A big thing KotM tries to do with its version of the Destroy Gundam is to not make it seem like just a slightly taller grunt unit that gets taken down as easily as the other Suits like in the original SEED Destiny. The series tries to accomplish this by only having one, maybe two Destroys show up per battle with the Knights after their introduction, and their presence on the battlefield is always taken as seriously as when it first shows up with the Knights needing to use different tactics to take them down (which is also meant to be a way to not making the good guys' weapons too OP like in the original SEED Destiny). The only time that many of them are grouped up together is in the last episode involving the Glemy Faction.
