Cosmo is a character from Chodenji Robo Combattler V and is a major supporting character in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season 1. She's a Droid created by Dr. Olban originally to serve the evil organization L.O.S.R., designed in the image of a little girl with angel wings to spread fear and panic with her incredible speed & cutesy, angel-like appearance to spread terror (because some people in the organization are just really, really sick). Thankfully though, Crystal Knights founding member Catra managed to help her escape her twisted fate and take the angelic Droid under her own metaphorical wings to show her the world and help them stop her creator's colleagues & other villains from doing whatever they please.

Personality[]

All Cosmo wants is to be free; as free as the birds in the sky and seeing everything the world has to offer. And thanks to the Knights rescuing her from being turned into a mindless killing machine, she's been given that chance, and is now living.as the happy, free-spirited girl she was designed to resemble. And like many of her comrades, she's very dedicated to helping her newfound family in their battles, aiding in their shenanigans and protecting them from any threats they face. She does have an intense fear of death, but even then, she's more than willing to put her life on the line and help her new friends when they're faced with insurmountable odds, even sometimes trying to rush into suicide missions to save them, knowing that she may not make it out online.

History[]

Season 1[]

Cosmo was created in the image of a little girl with angel wings, in a sick, twisted idea to have their next figure of destruction being a cute little angel girl in a cute pink dress. But, unbeknownst to them, Cosmo had developed a consciousness of sorts, and desired not to destroy; not to mention developing a general sense of freedom and see the world she was meant to destroy. So soon enough, she decided to take a chance early one morning managed to sneak out the facility she was kept in undetected. Or so she thought...

Abilities & Weapons[]

  • Optic Scanners
  • Super Strength

As a Droid, Cosmo can naturally lift incredibly heavy items.

  • Wings

Cosmo has a pair of large angel-like mechanical wings attached to her back that grant her the power of high-speed flight that can cover great distances and ascend to high altitudes. However, they are not strong enough to avoid being cut by bladed weapons, but they are easily repairable.

  • Leg Boosters
Cosmo has a set of jet booster engines stored in her legs; however, unlike other Droids with the same feature, she only activates hers whenever she's in need of a speed boost. These combined with her small stature allow her to reach speeds of Mach 3, making her completely invisible to radar.
  • Wing Cutter

Cosmo can thin her wings and make them sharp enough to cut through virtually any surface.

  • Crash Attack

Cosmo spins her body at high speeds and slams into an opponent.

  • Photon Beam

Cosmo has a small, crimson gem embedded into her forehead that enables her to fire a Photon Beam.

Combo Attacks[]

  • Cross Cutter

Combo attack w/ Catra: Cosmo and Catra strike an enemy with their Wing Cutter and Ceramic Blades at the same time.

Relationships[]

Catra[]

As she was the person that rescued her, Cosmo became attached to Catra very quickly. Not only was she taken by how her cat ears, but the former Horde trainee helped her get back into the air after her wing was damaged. What's more, she became inspired when Catra told her about how she too wanted a life of freedom and settled with the Knights to form her own destiny. As she continued to further hone her flying skills, the two would only grow closer, eventually forming a strong sisterly connection. As such, she's about as protective of her as she is of her, often being the first to rush into the fray and help her if she's caught between a rock and a hard place, even if it seemed like a no-win scenario. However, she can also sometimes be the more level-headed of the two, often having to hold her "big sister" back from charging straight at an enemy before they have any idea on how dangerous it is or... anything else that seems fairly stupid.

Dr. Olban[]

Like nearly all of the Knights that were created by the Renegade organization, Cosmo has very ill feelings towards her creator.

Goddoamon[]

As they shared the same creator, Cosmo did see Goddoamon as a brother of sorts, but she showed no hesitation in fighting back against him when he tried to destroy her friends.

Usagi Tsukino[]

While obviously not as close to her as she is to Catra, Cosmo considers Usagi a good friend, and is just as willing to back up as any else.

Ayako[]

Nyoka[]

Emily[]

Ana & Yuna[]

Tobikage[]

Originally, Cosmo was terrified by Tobikage's presence, and that's putting it gently. A tall ninja with a scary-looking sword sent to take her back to the hellhole she had just escaped from by any means necessary left its scars on her, not to mention slicing off her wing. Even when she came to help them during Season 2 and saw how apologetic he was when he joined the team shortly after her, she was still skittish around him.

Notes[]

Cosmo being paired with Catra in this series is essentially meant to take the place of Melog, the rebellious cat girl's shapeshifting alien feline companion that she meets in her home show's final season. And while she can't change her form or even feel/replicate Catra's emotions like Melog could, she's still meant to fill the duty of a companion that is fiercely loyal & protective of her that's often the only one share her innermost feelings with (just externally instead of internally). And again, while she obviously doesn't share feline features, they have a common ground in that they have some of the most outlandish designs among the Knights.

  • It also has a touch of Catra's dynamic with Scorpia in the original She-Ra series, what with her being the naive, absent-minded sort that really likes to make friends but can come off a little "strong" sometimes (though, of course, this friendship is meant to go about much smoother than that one, and come off as more innocent).

Cosmo is unique among the Droids in KotM in that she wasn't actually a robot in her source material. Rather, she was a human-like alien from the planet Bird Star, where she and her people were forced to work under the people of Kyanbell, the show's main antagonistic force. She managed to escape to Earth to find freedom, but upon arrival was captured by the series' main villain, Garuda, who "transformed" her into a miniature Slave Monster (the name of the show's Monster-of-the-Week) via a mind control device planted directly into her skull (yikes) capable of launching very fast attacks that make her invisible to radar and used her to wreak havoc. Thankfully, the Combattler Team managed to save her, but after having the device surgically removed, she realized what she had done, so she decided to throw herself into battle and sacrificed herself to allow Combattler to destroy the Monster of the Week.

  • The idea to make her a full-blow android was done simply to offer a simpler(-ish) explanation for her origins, helped by her rather large boots being somewhat reminiscent of Mega Man's Robot Masters. Plus, it helps to show how messed up some of the Renegades' scientists can be.
  • The gemstone on her forehead was originally the mind control device that was implanted into her in her home series. Here, it's a simple accessory piece, and the idea of it being able to shoot a laser - a power similar to several Ultraseven & other old Toku heroes like him - is simply so she has another weapon (primarily an offensive one) since in the original Combattler series, the only power she had was her speed.

Her full name in the original Combattler series was actually "Cosmo Bird", but to keep things simple, she only uses the first part of her name in KotM. Besides, most of the characters in her home series just call her "Cosmo" anyway.
