The AMX-RX-01γ Blast Impulse Gundam is a robot from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny and is a mobile suit featured in Knights of the Multiverse Season 2. It was one of the first Gundams developed by Axis Zeon, along with its sister units, the standard-type Impulse and Sword Impulse. The Blast varient was built to be specialized in ranged combat and demolitions, and was piloted by Rey Za Burrel.

History[]

Season 2[]

The Impulse, Sword Impulse and Blast Impulse Gundams was created by Axis Zeon to act as their prototype models for their future Gundam mobile suits, similarly to the Titans' Gundam Mk-II, with the Blast Impulse made to be proficient in long-range/offensive combat.

Armaments[]

  • Shield
  • Vulcans

Rather than being mounted in the head, the Impulse Gundam has its Vulcan guns mounted in its chest.

  • Beam Rifle
  • Beam Javelin

Although designed for ranged combat, the Blast Impulse uses two beam javelins, which are stored inside the beam cannons when not in use. These javelins are primarily used for close combat, but can also be used as throwing weapons.

  • Hyper-Velocity Rail Cannon

Two hyper-velocity rail cannons are mounted at the top of the Blast Impulse's back, and are positioned over the shoulders when in use. These rail cannons fire solid projectiles that have been accelerated via electromagnetic fields.

  • High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon

The most powerful of the Blast Impulse's ranged weaponry is its two large high-energy long-range beam cannons. They are mounted on the sides of the Blast Impulse's back and are positioned underneath it's shoulders, with their trigger held in each hand when in use.

  • Quadruple Missile Launcher

Mounted in the back of each of the beam cannons is a pair of four tube missile launchers, positioned over the shoulders when in use and can fire multiple guided missiles. Due to their position, the missile launchers cannot be used at the same time as the beam cannons.

Notes[]

This version of the Impulse Gundam is split into three versions rather than be a singular Gundam with interchangeable booster packs, both to help make Shinn, Luna and Rey feel more like a team and to act as a nod to the original three Gundam Mk-II's developed by the Titans in Zeta Gundam.
