Ayako is a character from Galaxy Fraulein Yuna and is a major character in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season 1. She is the "youngest" of the three Dark Sister Battle-Type androids created by Dr. Empra of L.O.S.R. in their quest for world domination, but after she was defeated by the Crystal Knights, they took her when she seemingly didn't have anywhere else to go, where she discovered a life outside of fighting (and a healthy "workplace" environment), leading to her joining their group & their fight against the forces of evil.

Personality[]

Being the youngest of her sisters (both in size and being the last one to be created), Ayako is often very energetic, behaves very childish & naive, and enjoys pulling pranks and play-fighting with her compatriots. She can also be very emotional at times, such as often stubborn she can be or how upset she would originally get when she humiliated/injured in the middle of a fight. And even though she grew out of that phase rather quickly, she still often jumps headfirst into any situation, especially if she's antagonized enough to do so. This is not helped at all by how much she loves fighting and relishes duking it out to the finish with an opponent. Not out of any malicious intent mind or any sick pleasure like her sister Kyoka; no, she's more into battle for the sport of it and only wants to do it for fun. It is this behavior that leads her to make rash decisions that often get her into trouble, with often often the team member that gets "beat up" the most in the heat of battle. However, she is benevolent and kind by nature, as she is quite friendly to those she's close to and does enjoy most of the "normal" stuff girls her age like to do (like play video games, the occasional shopping trip and such). She also has a very strong moral compass, as when she finally saw her creator's true "feelings" for her and her sisters and understood the Renegades' true motives, she immediately chose to join the Knights and help take them down. Now, in addition to the thrill of it, she fights out of the desire to defend freedom and the innocent. Heck, sometimes her getting serieously injured is now due to her trying to rescue someone without considering her own worth

Her most defining trait though - more than her fighting prowess and her electric powers - is how she values family above all else, as seen by how desperate she was to bring her sisters over to the good side and show them a life outside of fighting like the Knights showed her. It was also what truly cemented her joining the Knights, as seeing her own creator ruthlessly gun down her sister, along with coming to terms with how most of her "family" had treated her in the past, made her realize that the ones she should give her full love and support were the ones who that offered it back. She also found some solace in how many like-minded people she met as the group's roster expanded, both those that wanted to prove themselves to those they loved and those that lost them.

History[]

Pre-Series[]

Ayako and her sisters were created by their "mother" in an attempt to recreate Dr. Symphony's test of using three Battle Droids based on the three general body types - child, teen & adult, with Ayako being made in the image of a 10-year-old, which had the "side effect" of making her a little naiver & more childish. However, rather than do this to test each body-types strength like Symphony did, Empra only recreated it so she could have what she thought would be enough muscle to destroy her enemies and maybe take her to a higher position in the organization with how powerful they were.

Abilities[]

  • Suit Summon

Ayako is able to change from her normal clothes to her kimono-like battle suit in a burst of electric energy.

  • Flight
  • Super Speed

Ayako is able to fly at lightning-fast speeds, often appearing as a simple streak of lightning when she goes fast enough.

  • Super Strength

Electrical Generation[]

Thanks to a special electricity-generating dynamo built into her body, Ayako is able to generate up to five million volts of electricity. She can use this in a variety of ways, such as firing it in a beam-like blast from her hands (which will usually either paralyze her opponents or destroy them outright), creating a huge burst of it by slamming her hand or foot onto the ground to paralyze a large group of enemies, charging up her punches and kicks, and cause electronic panels or walls lined with electronics to overload & explode with a simple touch of her palm. She's even able to redirect currents of electricity-based attacks gunning for her right back to the attacker.

  • Electrical Absorption

In addition to releasing electricity, Ayako's dynamo also allows her to absorb outside sources of electricity to recharge both the dynamo itself and her Photon core. This is especially helpful whenever she loses so much energy that puts her in danger of shutting down, with the oncoming volts re-energizing her power cells right quick.

  • Thunder Double Kick

Ayako charges up a kick filled with electricity and jumps into the air to deliver a double-foot dropkick attack to her enemies. For Droids & Mecha, the electricity will usually disperse through their circuits and main systems, resulting in them exploding in a blaze of glory. If not, it will at least disable some of their systems.

  • Thunder Crash

Ayako charges herself with electrical energy and rockets forward at great speed as she blasts straight through an enemy with a powerful crash.

  • Thunder Burst

Ayako covers her fist in electricity and punches the ground to produce an electrical shockwave that releases in a straight forward line so she can paralyze a large group of approaching enemies or even smaller machines to explode. She can also sometimes use it to deflect more "ground-based" attacks.

  • Thunder Claw

Ayako charges her hand with a large amount of electricity so she can pierce through an enemy machine and then release it throughout their circuits & systems. This usually results in said machine exploding, but for certain robots, she's able to channel just enough electricity to destroy specific systems, mostly the ones that use the most energy. She mainly does this to deal with robots she doesn't want to destroy.

  • Thunder Bomber

Ayako releases an enormous amount of electricity from her body in one massive burst that fires in all directions, which paralyzes & destroys, or at the very least heavily damages, all the machines around her all at once. Though this does have the side effect of draining almost all of her energy.

 Combo Attacks[]

  • Combination Crash

Combo attack w/ Neo Sailor Moon: Ayako and Usagi hit their enemy with a double-tap from a blast of electricity and the Moon Wail before flying high into the air and perform a double dive-kick that pierces right through their target, causing it to explode behind them (like you do).

  • Lightning Rope

Combo attack w/ Lorelai: Lorelai entangles an enemy in her energy ponytail and Ayako quickly grabs it & releases a blast of electricity forward to fry their target.

  • Double Lightning Buster

Combo attack w/ Emily Tsurugi-Hono: Ayako generates a burst of electricity & sends it towards Emily, who absorbs the energy into her sword. The two then blast their enemy with bursts of electricity to fry their target.

  • Cosmic Moon Crash

Group combination attack: When facing an enemy that's too strong, Ayako and her friends will combine their powers into a ball of pure, combined energy, with Ayako supplying a blast of electic energy. It can be formed with only four others, but for the truly powerful foes, all of them will partake in creating the ball, making it even bigger than it usually is.

Relationships[]

Dr. Empra[]

Even though she is her creator, Ayako was always hesitant to think of Empra as a mother. The two were never close, with Genmu doing most of the work nurturing and taking care of the young gynoid during their training period. In fact, the most she really interacted with her mother was when she trying to terminate her.

Kyoka[]

Even though she is her older sister, Ayako is terrified of Kyoka. Her older sister was always extra rough on her during their days "training", always mocking her for being so childish and so much weaker than she was.

Genmu[]

Unlike her mother and other sister, Ayako truly did love Genmu. For all the time the trio were training, Genmu was the one who was always there for her: helping her control her powers, fixing up her injuries, and just generally taking care of her. As such, she was desperate for the Knights to save her and help her join the Knights, and of course, she was heartbroken when Empra destroyed her. She managed to get past it fairly quickly thanks to her new friends' support, but her absence from her life does still sting.

Usagi Tsukino[]

Ayako is very close friends with the future Princess of Crystal Tokyo, being her closest personal companion on the team. Since Usagi was the first person outside of Genmu to treat her as an equal and not a weapon, she came to trust her almost immediately. When the two first met/fought, Ayako saw Usagi as another "playmate". However, after she reached out to her and offered her help, the two have become very good friends. The youngest of the Dark Sisters holds her in very high regard both for how selfless & honorable she is and for showing her . Together, they are a solid team, showing well-oiled collaboration in combat (if their "Combination Crash" is anything to go by), and is willing to go to great lengths to help & protect her any chance she can.

Lime[]

In an ironic twist, Ayako would find herself becoming something of a big sister to another young Droid. The young electric-type found something of a kindred spirit in Lime, what with her loving the joy of a fun fight and initially being rather ignorant of the world around her.

Roscarl[]

At first, Ayako thought Roscarl was just a simple little Droid that was built just to help around the Glomar, although she was perplexed by her having an armor-like outer frame instead of artificial skin. But, when she saw how courageous she could be, she instead found another kindred spirit in wanting to prove herself to her older "sister", so she would sometimes help her whenever she tried to prove herself.

Nyoka[]

Emily[]

Ayako and Emily often butt heads (quite literally in some cases) due to their shared headstrong natures and often leaping into battles. But, there is still a mutual respect for each other and the two do consider each other friends.

Mohm[]

Like Roscarl, Ayako found a kindred spirit in Mohm in wanting to be prove herself to her older sibling. As such, she was one of the most adament about helping her handle Orguss.

Agnes[]

Like pretty much everyone else on the team, Ayako found Agnes's ability to change her Photon energy into heat "awesome".

Lorelai[]

When the Knights first took Lorelai in, while Ayako offered the young Droid words of comfort through her understanding the pain of losing a loved one, she soon found herself getting agitated when she joined them out on the battlefield even though she was built to fight just like her. But when she found her drive to fight, these feeling quickly subsided and since then, the two have become good friends that can always watch each other's backs.

Meryl[]

Atros[]

At first, like the others, Ayako saw Atros as a rival to fight against constantly in the group's war with the Renegades, with her comments about being her "failed prototype" not helping matters. When Usagi began having thoughts about convincing her rival to join their side, Ayako was among the many that had their doubts that she could be turned. But when Usagi pointed out how Atros's story paralleled her own origin, Ayako let off some of her doubts (but only a little).

When Atros and the others did eventually join the team, while it was slow going at first, the two eventually did reach an understanding about where they stood and formed a stable enough friendship.

Chaotique[]

Chaotique was the one Droid Ayako found herself developing a very heated rivalry with during the group's battles against the Renegades. What started out as the two simply testing out their speed turned into borderline hatred with how much Kay's attitude and pranks got on her nerves.

Drum[]

L.O.S.R.[]

Axis Zeon[]

Glemy Faction[]

Secret Society[]

Electrocutioner[]

As another electricity-based fighter, Ayako and the Electrocutioner had a short-lived rivalry.

Guild of the Multiverse[]

Notes[]

Ayako's electricity powers are a sort of spin on her original series counterpart's power to manipulate machinery just by touching any man-made surface with her hands, able to use wires and pipes like vines to capture objects or even configure them into weaponry, from small turrets to powerful cannons able to burst through buildings. This has been simplified down to simply electricity generation mostly to make her powers a little less complicated, even taking elements from how other electricity users use their element like other electric-type robots like Elec Man and heroes like Black Lightning, Inazuman and Kamen Rider Stronger. Plus, her original counterpart was created by aliens, so it just seems a little outlandish for (relatively) normal human scientists to be able to create technology that complex; or at the very least, only use it for one robot (besides, a thunder-user can come in handy when you mostly deal with robots).

  • As another allusion to Elec Man, Ayako and Chaotique develop a rivalry based mainly off of Elec's rivalry with Quick Man in some media they both appear in together.
    Ayako Casual Wear Lineart

Line art of the original design for Ayako's casual clothes.

Ayako's "casual clothes" have actually been slightly redesigned from how it looked in her home series. Originally, her shirt had a multi-layered collar with rainbow-like colors with puffs of cotton on the shoulders, and the overalls had several buttons(?) attached. These extra (and somewhat strange) details have been removed for simplicity's sake, like a few other characters in this series, and her overalls have been changed to cover a bit more of her torso and look a little more like normal overalls.

Many of Ayako's attacks come from other thunder-based attacks, primarily from other Super Robots, with most of them obviously meant to be extensions of her thunder-like powers. Her Thunder Bomber is named after and works similarly to Getter Robo Arc's super move, her Thunder Kick is based off of Gunbuster's signature Inazuma Kick or Stronger's Den/Electro Kick (though the way she performs the attack is based off of Black RX's RX Kick so as to make it a little more visually-distinct from Usagi's "Sailor Kick"), her Thunder Burst is basically Stronger's Electro Fire with a different name, and her Thunder Claw is taken from Machine Robo's Baikanfu.

Ayako and Lime's connection is mainly built off of their paralles as being of being the "runts of the litter" in their home series (so much so that its possible the Dark Sisters were "inspired" by the Sabers themselves). It also draws some parallels to Bloodberry in the original SM stories, with her being the designated "thick-headed, hotblooded fighter" of the group but still shows that she greatly cares about her friends like how BB acts in the main J series and how she trains her like her R incarnation. Heck, her main outfit is even similar to a kimono-like Japanese tradition outfit like Cherry's design in the J series.

The Combination Crush actually gets its name from a combo move Daitarn and Zambot 3 perform in some of the Super Robot Wars games they appear in together.
