Atros is a character from the Iczer Series and is a major character in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season 1. She's a Droid created by Dr. Neos to aid the evil organization L.O.S.R. in their conquest of the world. More than that though, she was created to battle the uniquely powered "entity" Neo Sailor Moon, or at the very least capture her so the organization could analyze her strange powers for their own uses. However, after several battles with her, she soon found that there was more to life than just fighting, and rebelled against her creator, joining her rival in the Crystal Knights.

Personality[]

Atros is a very headstrong and proud young Droid. Being born for battle, she naturally loves fighting and typically acts extremely aggressive, reckless and never hesitating to take the first shot. She also gets a kick out of trash talking her opponents during confrontations, thanks to her mother praising her as her greatest creation, making her believe that she was the ultimate Droid was totally invincible. She also doesn't hesitate to attack a fellow Renegade robot if they stand between her and Sailor Moon.

However, she's a lot more immature than she thinks she is. Since she was built to be around Usagi's age, she often acts a lot like her "age", like getting pouty when someone gets in the middle of one of her and their duels, or how curious she'll get when she discovers something new. She also refuses to attack unarmed/weak opponents and is very desperate to earn her mother's affection.

More importantly though, Atros also isn't exactly evil like the other Renegade droids. Rather, she's more of a "bad girl" who acts rebellious and apathetic, often being aloof and indifferent to most people. She's also actually quite nice under her gruff exterior. Well, over time, at least. At first, she acted very coldly towards others, preferring to operate alone and shunning the other Droids she was "forced" to work with several times, especially Lime, who's childish naivety got under her artificial skin right quick in their early missions together. After several missions with them though, after seeing how much they all cared about her & protected her in many a battle at the cost of their own safety, she began to open his heart and gradually became a team player.

At first, Atros had no real drive in life besides the base-line pre-programmed desire to fight whoever her mother set her loose against. She expressed joy and other such emotions only through her love to fight, and couldn't care less about anything else in between the battles, However, it was in part this aspect to her that, even in the beginning, made her not necessarily evil, as she was more so lost and confused about what life truly had to offer her. She soon began to question her role and true purpose, as the longer she spent with her fellow Droids, the more she started to develop feelings towards them, combined with Usagi - someone who was supposed to be her rival - starting to show her compassion and starting to give out the odd bit of life advice. Now, as a member of the Knights, while she does maintain a sarcastic and slight aggressive attitude, she's generally much calmer and a lot friendlier, becoming incredibly loyal to her friends, enjoying the free time she gets with them and always looking out for their safety on the frontlines. She does still come off as rather standoffish and abrasive at times, which can put her off with others that join the team as the series continues.

When she joins the Knights, Atros keeps up a rather rough and gruff personality, initially wanting to act mostly on her own and being very stubborn about it, but she has come to realize there will be times she has to count on her new teammates whenever she gets too in over her head. She is still a bit of a loner at times and is still very headstrong and stubborn, but she has gotten a little kinder and "mellow" thanks to the others' influence and becomes very loyal to the rest of the team even if she doesn't show it all that often.

History[]

Season 1[]

After the Knights' infiltration and destruction of their Grotta Base, Dr. Neos was one of the first of the Renegades to take notice of the potential threat that these new "heroes" could present to the organization's further plans. In particular, she took notice of the young girl leading the charge, a girl with large pink hair buns that used some sort of unknown power. So, she took her design for her personal "perfect" battle-type Droid and adapted to the size of this "Sailor Moon" to eliminate her before she caused the organization any further grief. And thus, in surprisingly quick time, Atros was born.

Season 2[]

Season 3[]

Powers & Weapons[]

  • Flight

Atros has thrusters in her feet that allow her to fly at incredible speeds, nearly reaching the speed of light, appearing as a streak of yellow Photon Energy-filled light.

  • AEFD Code

Atros's body has a code based off of Honey Kisaragi's Airborne Element Fixing Device that allows her to change from her normal clothing to her battle suit in the blink of an eye.

  • Beam Sabers

Atros is armed with two experimental beam sabers based off of those used by the Gundams, both emitting a strong, Photon laser. Even as prototypes, they're surprisingly strong, able to hold back the Zeta Gundam's beam saber and slice through most metals with ease and, when crossed together, can reflect enemy beam-like attacks. They're also able to combine at each end to form a double-sided lancer. Combined like this, she's then able to throw it at her opponent like a boomerang.

  • Photon Blasters

Atros can fire bursts of Photon Energy from her hands via a red glass-bulb mechanism on each hand that draw energy directly from her Photon Core and release it in the form of beams. She can either generate small bursts & rapidly fire them or create more powerful single-shot blasts that're capable of tearing through (most) enemy Droids in one blow.

Special Attacks[]

  • Saber Crash

Atros uses her hand blasters to energize her Beam Sabers with even more Photon Energy. While energizing them, she rotates her arms in a circular motion before crossing them over her chest, her Sabers pointed straight up. She will then perform a dual slash with both energy blades.

  • Combined Blade Varient

Atros has a varient of her Saber Clash when the Sabers are combined, where she transfers her energy into only one of the beam blades, ascends high into the air while twirling the dual-blade in front of her, and then brings down the energized-blade for a final slash attack.

  • Photon Burst

Atros crosses her hands together & charges up her Photon Energy. She then throws her hands forward and releases a huge blast of Photon Energy at her target. It appears to be just as strong as Sailor Moon's "Moon Princess Halation" attack, as the two attacks are able to successfully block each other whenever they clash.

  • Photon Bomb

Atros is able to internally charge up her Photon energy and charges into her opponent at high speeds with her shoulder jolted out, often going so fast she appears only as a flash of yellow light.

Combo Attacks[]

  • Cosmic Moon Crash

Group combination attack: When facing an enemy that's too strong, Atros and her allies will combine their powers into a ball of pure, combined energy, with Atros supplying a blast of Photon Energy from her hands. It can be formed with only four others, but for the truly powerful foes, all of them will partake in creating the ball, making it even bigger than it usually is.

Relationships[]

Dr. Neos[]

Atros never gave Neos much respect, neither as her superior and certainly not as a mother. . Heck, she didn't even go back to her whenever she needed repairs: she just went to whatever Renegade base happened to be close by. The only time she ever really did interact with her was during her identity crisis, begging to understand if there was more to her existence than being a simple fighting machine.

Usagi Tsukino[]

As the person she was solely created to fight, Atros and Usagi were bitter rivals for a good chunk of the first season. Originally, she only saw the future Moon Princess as a target she was programmed to eliminate - she didn't really know or care why, she just went along with it. But after their first three encounters ended with the two in a two-way draw, her desire to defeat her became an obsession driven by her hardwired need to fulfill her seemingly new purpose, showing up sometimes from seemingly nowhere just to fight the Pretty Guardian Trainee yet not killing her when she had a chance. However, much to Atros's surprise, as the two kept encountering each other, the more the Guardian trainee would chip away at her way; not through her fists, but her words, asking Atros if this was all her life would amount to with how much beauty there is to see in the world and beyond, eventually leading her to question if she actually hated her.

When she eventually did decide to listen to her and joined the Knights, while they were much more friendly towards each other, the two still maintained a bit of rivalry. Their "fighting" though turned more towards a simple competitive attitude, whether it being something as simple as who can down a jug of milk the fastest to the two training on their home's top deck, which also helped to sharpen each other's skills even farther. So, while they can sometimes still be seen fighting one another verbally or physically, the two always keep each other on their toes and will have each other's backs.

Cynthia[]

Cynthia is possibly the most important person in Atros's life, after Usagi of course. She didn't think much of the older Droid at first (mostly due to the two never really meeting before), but when they were stuck together, she became very impressed by the young one's spirit, willing to fight against "bad guys" as she so elequantly called them despite having no powers. She became a major influence in her finally deciding to turn over a new leaf, and when Atros joined the team officially, their friendship would only strengthen.

Tobikage[]

Chaotique[]

Atros and Chaotique have a friendly rivalry between them, with the two often butting heads over their speed and general discourse brought on by their egos. Although even then, even someone that can be as thickheaded as Atros gets frequently annoyed by her ego and how it'll get in the way of missions.

Drum[]

Even with her rather unusual powers, Atros found herself bonding quite well with Drum due to her being the most "normal" of the Droids she made acquaintance with: rather than an immature "kid" or one that tries to act super mature, Drum just presented herself as just a normal girl that she could just hang out with & talk to.

Lime[]

Atros thought very little of Lime at first due to her childish behavior, thinking that it would just be a detriment to herself and any poor sap - human or Droid - that gets stuck with her. So of course, she was one of said "poor saps" more often than not.

Nyoka[]

Emily[]

Ayako[]

Atros originally saw Ayako as her "flawed prototype" of sorts, since she's doing the job that the "older" Droid failed to do, with her often mocking her about it whenever the two traded blows.

When Atros and the others did eventually join the team, while it was slow going at first, the two eventually did reach an understanding about where they stood and formed a stable friendship.

Roscarl[]

Atros didn't think much about Roscarl at first, believing she was just some cheap model due to her lack of artificial skin. But when she discovered her Super Alloy skin and dagger, she was... relatively impressed. Though more importantly, when she learned about how her own creator treated her, it caused a strange reaction in her, making her think about how her own mother was treating her. She also couldn't help but feel sorry for Roscarl for her situation.

Lorelai Heinrich[]

Agnes[]

Earth-chan[]

L.O.S.R.[]

V3[]

Atros and V3 have a very hostile rivalry, with the two constantly at each other's throats and fighting over who has the superior powers and mocking each other whenever they fail another mission. Atros does have somewhat of a leg up on him though (or, rather, something she's keen to rub in his face), as she's always quick to point out that she at least has an actual name.

Notes[]

While Atros's role in her original series is essentially the same as it is in this series - that of the "rival character turned ally" - it felt quite rushed due to the series only having six episodes, and it mainly tied into her being a perfect clone of the series's main character, the titular Iczer 3. So, her depiction in KotM aims to go a little more in depth with her character & eventual turn to the light, taking influence from characters like SSSS.GRIDMAN's Anti and possibly one of the most popular rival characters in classic Tokusatsu, Hakaider; other high-powered robots/artificial lifeforms created specially to eliminate one of the main protagonists, battling their rival several times before developing emotions/feelings outside of their base programming and turning over a new leaf, even becoming close friends with the very one they were made to destroy (well, in Anti's case). She also has some influence from other characters that discover their (figurative) humanity thanks to an outside influence like Astro Boy's Pluto, complete with her developing a connection with Cynthia like Pluto did Uran. In addition to that, so as to make sure she doesn't lose any of her edge & become squeaky-clean when she joins the Knights, she still mainly operates under her own agenda & can still be one of the more "aggressive" members of the main cast, making her also akin to characters like Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho.

  • Taking influence from Hakaider - particulalry his depiction in the original Tokusatsu adaptation - is to make Atros a type of rival that focuses solely on their desire to destroy the leading hero and doesn't allow anything to get in the way of their fights; though she does have some "less evil" aspects to her character, such as showing a bit of a soft spot for children, despises cowardly tactics, and even being a bit rebellious by not blindly following her supposed superiors' orders. But of course, this series goes the extra mile by making her the rival that slowly-but-surely becomes a good guy like the aforementioned Hiei and (the more obvious example) Vegeta. One way of doing this is by giving a twist on the DARK Robot's story; in the final episode of his arc, he experiences an existential crisis when he realizes how meaningless his life is when Kikaider is temporarily destroyed. This idea is tweaked to become a mental one that Atros has to grapple with, Usagi triggering this question herself when she actually asks this question to her rival's face. This is also loosely based on her arc in her home series where the cast tried to convince her to join her side since she's a complete copy of the show's titular heroine,
    • This idea also has some influence from Hakaider's 1995 feature film, where he became an anti-hero that fought for the sake of his own free will rather than world peace (at least on a concept level; she doesn't really follow any of Ryo Hakaider's story beats).
  • In addition to the influence from Hakaider, Atros's story also takes influence from another robotic arch-enemy of a long-running/respected series about robots: the 1980 version of Atlas from Astro Boy. Atros at least appears in eight/nine episodes to help establish her connection & rivalry with Usagi, inspired by how the 80s series had nine episodes focused on Astro and Atlas.
  • When she officially joins the team, Atros and Usagi develop a dynamic quite similar to that of the latter's mother and Sailor Mars, with Atros often teasing and hurling insults at Usagi every chance she can get. Although this is shaken up a little as Usagi does the same right back to her, making her able to give back as much as she takes from her former rival.
  • Going back to the Pluto influence, Sigma could be seen as a parallel to Pluto's "shadow" from the 2003 anime Acheron, as she's meant to be a duplicate of the original by removing those "pesky emotions".
Usagi S Movie

Usagi's outfit that was "given" to Atros.

Atros's casual clothes are taken directly from one of Usagi's outfits in Sailor Moon S: The Movie, with its jock-like jacket matching her aggressive/hot-headed personality quite well, and the outfits colors create a decent contrast against her hair color. However, certain elements of the outfit's desin have been changed, like her high socks being made the color of her "battle armor", her undershirt has been changed into a simple short-sleeve one and the bunny on the left side of the jacket being removed, obviously since the image is just meant to be a gag on her name (for those that don't know, "usagi" is the Japanese term for "rabbit"). It's also been given a pair of black, fingerless gloves to emphasis her "punk" nature a little more.

In her home series, Atros's "beam sabers" were actually made purely of light (space magic and whatnot). While the other Iczer sisters had beam sabers that came from a hilt in "Fight Iczer One!", this was changed to the entire sword being made of energy in "Iczer 3". Atros and Sigma's beam sabers in this series were changed to the type seen in the first OVA. Though she can still combine the two blades like she did in the OVA, which is a fairly recurring ability for Toku heroes (such as Spielvan's Twin Blade and the Timerangers' Vector Swords) and Mecha that also have two "beam sabers" like the mechs from Metal Armor Dragonar and a majority of the Gundams from SEED/SEED Destiny.

In the original OVA, Atros and the other Iczers simply fired beams from their hands in fists or open handed, much like your average DBZ character. So, to make it a little more "logical" how she's able to use this attack, she takes design cues from some of Dragon Ball's own androids and replicates their palm energy absorbers. But rather than absorb energy, they're meant to act much more like Iron Man's Repulsor Beams and release energy.

Atros's Photon Burst is a KotM-original attack, given to her mainly just so she has a more powerful long-range attack other than just repeatedly using her Photon Bomb.
